190708_mein_raum_is_my_space
“190708_mein_raum_is_my_space” is a hallucinatory journey through digital animations of bodies and spaces. The odyssey leads from the digital to the analog, from the physical to the mental and shows in a humorous and poetic way the sensuality of the human body in reaction to its environment. Navigated by the rhythm of the soundtrack, a specially written piece by the musician Artur Sommerfeld, one encounters fragmented arms in the oesophagus as swans on a pond of gastric mucus; Mantegna‘s famous Milanese Lamentation of Christ becomes an anatomical theatre of the process of elimination and the perspective illusion of Borromini‘s portico in Rome becomes reality by walking through it.
From an art historical perspective, the working material is fished out of the flood of images on the Internet. The found footage is then digitally fragmented, reassembled and brought to life through computer-generated animations. The alienated snippets of reality thus open up a field of tension between reality and simulation. In this reality, things and circumstances are determined by a force other than that of physical laws. It is animated by the spirit of the computer.
